A lot of entrepreneurs spend way too much time building a business model full of spreadsheets, assumptions, guesses, plans and projections. The trouble with these are that they are hard to explain, understand or to make sure they cover all the key elements of a business. A guy named Alex Osterwalder invented a new way to do a business model, and it’s called the Business Model Canvas, and this is how it works…

There are 9 boxes to fill out – all of them are self-explanatory. They include: Customer Segments, Value Proposition, Channels to Reach Customers, Customer Relationships to Establish, Key Resources, Activities and Partners, and finally the Cost Structure and Revenue Streams.
