Co-founder and CEO at Empowered Youth, Dene Botha has had the distinguished honour of presenting a TEDx Talk titled, “How to future-proof the next generation” as one off six educational experts speaking at Bargate, England in late 2021.
TED and TEDx are infamous platforms where renowned subject-matter experts speak to audiences on the topics of Technology, Entertainment and Design. With the tagline of “ideas worth spreading”, TED talks are aimed at addressing subjects and adversaries, and how to overcome them. There are a multitude of speakers and subjects, and talks range from Malcolm Gladwell’s “Choice, Happiness & Spaghetti Sauce” to Elizabeth Gilbert’s “Your Elusive Creative Genius”. With over 33 million subscribers on YouTube, it is safe to say that TED talks are well received.
Empowered Youth’s CEO, Dene Botha was honoured to be selected as one of the six speakers for the Southern Universities Network’s #TEDxBargate virtual event themed “EnvisionED” which aims address all things education related.
As a seasoned professional on all things youth related, Dene’s talk shines a light on how we (all) can take a ‘Modern Approach to an Old System’. He challenges the way tuition is delivered and shares his ideas based on vast amounts of research on how we can close the gap between what young people are being taught and what they actually want and need to be taught in order to thrive in the future. As always, this thought-provoking and interesting talk is delivered in his own chilled, personal, and comical narrative.
