After the recent “unrest” in South Africa, the South African Securities company, ATISA, has stepped-in and is offering to assist and up-skill up to 200 youth by offering them the opportunity to learn valuable Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship training skills via Empowered Youth’s Digital Workshops.
The “ATISA Modern Money Workshop Series” invites young South Africans to take advantage of this once-in-a-life-time opportunity to learn how to start their own business, and create an ongoing income-stream over the four-week period. The exclusive content is designed to empower young people to make more informed decisions about their finances and lifestyles including the financial health of their business ventures and addresses topics such as starting a business, operating a bank account, budgeting, saving, investing, sales, income streams, loans, short and long term insurance, and more.
After a close-run final, the winner was announced as 19 year old Stephen Annan Junior from Dagenham, a business studies student Barking & Dagenham College,
Stephen’s innovative health and wellness business concept ‘FRESH’ is an online booking platform for haircare and skincare appointments aimed at men, which offers customers an at-home service.
In second place was Ezana Tedla age 19 from Romford With his community-based fin-tech business EKUB, and following him in third, Thomas Cooper, age 18 from Dagenham with Palatial Packet, a modern approach to gifting and packaging.
After being crowned winner, Stephen honed in on his recently learned skills: “I’m over-the-moon! This is incredible. I’ve learned so much through this competition and now with the skills I’ve learned and the support of the College I can take my business and dream to the next level. Thank you everyone!”
Stephen walks away with £5000 in prizes including £2500 business investment from Barking & Dagenham College and 6 months of one-on-one mentorship from Empowered Youth worth £2500 to help him grow his business.
